Text of the message :Yesterday, the people of Iran, defying Khameneis warnings, went to streets in Tehran and other cities to press with their demand for regime change.
On Khameneis orders, the suppressive forces opened fire on the demonstrators. Dozens were killed. Thousands more were wounded or arrested.
Their only crime was demanding freedom. The world witnessed the final moments of a young girl, Neda, who was shot by the Guards in north Tehran. Her father was telling her in those final moments have no fear Neda! Today, the people have named the street as Neda.
With yesterdays crime, the mullahs regime entered an irreversible phase. At the same time, Iranians abroad, held a massive gathering in Paris in solidarity with the Iranian peoples uprisings.
NINETY THOUSAND Iranians echoed the slogans of those in Iran: death to dictator and long live freedom.
The Iranian peoples uprisings over the past week dashed the illusion about the strength and stability of mullahs regime. It clearly showed that the Iranian people are ready for democratic change.
The Iranian people, at home and abroad, have the same demand: an end to religious dictatorship. The only solution for Iran is democratic change, dismantling all suppressive forces and holding a free and fair election under UN supervision. I therefore, call on the UN Security Council, governments and international forums to the following:
1.Reject the mullahs’ sham election and appointment of Ahmadinejad. Compel the regime to accept a free and fair election under the UN supervision based on peoples sovereignty and not based on religious dictatorship.
2.Suspend all political and diplomatic ties with the mullahs regime until the suppression is completely stopped.
3.Impose a trade, diplomatic, arms and technology embargo on the regime.
4.Urge the UN Security Council to refer the crimes committed by the leaders of the regime, in particular Khamenei, to an international tribunal.
5.Impose a foreign travel ban on the regimes leaders

NATO said it hoped to secure the area in days, set up a local government and rush in development aid in a first test of the new U.S. strategy for turning the tide of the eight-year war. The offensive is the largest since the 2001 U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan.

The Taliban appeared to have scattered in the face of overwhelming force, possibly waiting to regroup and stage attacks later to foil the alliance’s plan to stabilize the area and expand Afghan government control in the volatile south. blog it

One of the biggest helicopter assaults in British military history has been launched against the Taliban in Afghanistan.
The Royal Welsh took the lead with their troops and Afghan partners flying at only 500ft above the desert, landing at a series of specified targets in the Nad-e-Ali area of Helmand under cover of darkness.
The Coldstream Guards, the Grenadier Guards and the Royal Welsh have all been on the ground testing the Taliban positions and trying to get the message out to local people that the battle is about restoring order and allowing normal government to develop.

Roughly 15,000 American, Afghan and NATO forces began an assault late Friday on the Taliban in the central Helmand town of Marjah in what senior military commanders are calling the largest operation since the start of the Afghanistan war.

Detecting multiple layers of insurgent defenses encircling the city, Cobra helicopters fired Hellfire missiles at tunnels, bunkers, and other defensive positions. Militants also flooded the main canal at the town’s entrance, making it more difficult for U.S.-led forces to enter on foot. blog it

THE security service MI5 has accused China of bugging and burgling UK business
executives and setting up “honeytraps” in a bid to blackmail them into
betraying sensitive commercial secrets.

A leaked MI5 document says that undercover intelligence officers from the
People’s Liberation Army and the Ministry of Public Security have also
approached UK businessmen at trade fairs and exhibitions with the offer of
“gifts” and “lavish hospitality”.

The gifts — cameras and memory sticks — have been found to contain electronic
Trojan bugs which provide the Chinese with remote access to users’ computers.

In the last three days, the governments of eleven countries have scrambled to elevate their preparedness levels for Islamist terror, or enforced extraordinarily stringent security measures. Another six governments have pursued these steps without fanfare.

Friday and Saturday, Jan. 22-23, India placed its airlines and airports and those of all of South East Asia -Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – on alert for a possible airplane hijacking by al Qaeda or Lashkar-e-Taibem. The UK elevated its terror threat level from “substantial” to “severe” – one below top and suspended direct British airline flights to and from Yemen.

Saturday, US airport authorities were warned that at least two female suicide bombers of “non-Arab appearance” and bearing Western passports may have been sent to America by al Qaeda-Yemen – either to blow up US-bound flights or commit suicide attacks inside the country.

Britain raised its terror threat alert to the second-highest level Friday, one of several recent moves the country has made to increase vigilance against international terrorists after a Christmas Day bombing attempt on a Europe-U.S. flight.

The threat level was raised from “substantial” — where it had stood since July to indicate a strong possibility of a terrorist attack — to “severe,” meaning such an attack is considered highly likely. blog it
