Muslim leaders have concluded the 8th two-yearly D-8 economic cooperation summit in Pakistan with a commitment to peace and democracy, as fighting continues to rage in Syria and a fragile ceasefire settles over Israel and the Gaza Strip following an 8-day escalation of hostilities.
The global summit established by former Turkish Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan in 1997, brings together an economic bloc of 8 developing Muslim nations including Egypt, Iran and Pakistan, in a bid to strengthen trade relations and economic development.

Speaking at the conference, Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, condemned Israeli airstrikes on Gaza which he described as “expansionist policies and atrocities”, calling on Muslim nations to create a “new world order”bringing an end to capitalism and capitalists.

Iran recently admitted to providing its Gazan ally, Hamas, with technology to build long-distance missiles, at least one of which militants claim to have fired at Tel Aviv during the recent violence.

Text of the message :Yesterday, the people of Iran, defying Khameneis warnings, went to streets in Tehran and other cities to press with their demand for regime change.
On Khameneis orders, the suppressive forces opened fire on the demonstrators. Dozens were killed. Thousands more were wounded or arrested.
Their only crime was demanding freedom. The world witnessed the final moments of a young girl, Neda, who was shot by the Guards in north Tehran. Her father was telling her in those final moments have no fear Neda! Today, the people have named the street as Neda.
With yesterdays crime, the mullahs regime entered an irreversible phase. At the same time, Iranians abroad, held a massive gathering in Paris in solidarity with the Iranian peoples uprisings.
NINETY THOUSAND Iranians echoed the slogans of those in Iran: death to dictator and long live freedom.
The Iranian peoples uprisings over the past week dashed the illusion about the strength and stability of mullahs regime. It clearly showed that the Iranian people are ready for democratic change.
The Iranian people, at home and abroad, have the same demand: an end to religious dictatorship. The only solution for Iran is democratic change, dismantling all suppressive forces and holding a free and fair election under UN supervision. I therefore, call on the UN Security Council, governments and international forums to the following:
1.Reject the mullahs’ sham election and appointment of Ahmadinejad. Compel the regime to accept a free and fair election under the UN supervision based on peoples sovereignty and not based on religious dictatorship.
2.Suspend all political and diplomatic ties with the mullahs regime until the suppression is completely stopped.
3.Impose a trade, diplomatic, arms and technology embargo on the regime.
4.Urge the UN Security Council to refer the crimes committed by the leaders of the regime, in particular Khamenei, to an international tribunal.
5.Impose a foreign travel ban on the regimes leaders

In an interview with US news network CNN, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon has said that there is no chance that Israel will apologise for its role in the raid on the Gaza bound Mavi Marmara two weeks ago. He said, the organisers of the flotilla are the ones who should apologise.” He added: “They they need to investigate themselves and those who support them. With that he directed the finger of blame away from Israel and towards Ankarra. He emphasized that relations between Turkey and Israel were important but laid blame directly at the Turkish government for its involvement in the ships plan to violently break the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip. He also rejected claims for an international investigation into the incident saying that Israel was fully able to investigate itself.

The parody video “We Con the World,” which mocked the international media coverage of the Gaza-bound “aid” flotilla that was stopped by Israeli naval commandos, has been taken down from the website YouTube, where it received over 3 million views since it went up on June 3. YouTube posted a comment citing copyright infringement concerns from Warren Chappel Music Inc., which owns the rights to the 1985 charity fundraiser song “We Are the World.” The video, made by the satirical Web site Latma TV depicts a mock crew of the flotilla, some wearing keffiyehs and speaking in Arab accents, performing a song to the tune of “We Are the World.” The parody, which received international — and often critical — acknowledgement, is available on other Web sites, while a Hebrew subtitled version is still available on YouTube.
