China’s People’s Liberation Army has been conducting live ammunition drills in the East China Sea during the last week.

The fleet’s main forces, including dozens of warships, fighter aircraft, submarines and missile units, carried out 16 combat training programs ranging from anti-missile techniques to searching for and attacking submarines, according to a captain of one of the warships.

This is in response to the Japanese government signing a contract last Tuesday to purchase the Diaoyu or Senkaku Islands, although there is a dispute as to who is the true owner of the islands.

THE security service MI5 has accused China of bugging and burgling UK business
executives and setting up “honeytraps” in a bid to blackmail them into
betraying sensitive commercial secrets.

A leaked MI5 document says that undercover intelligence officers from the
People’s Liberation Army and the Ministry of Public Security have also
approached UK businessmen at trade fairs and exhibitions with the offer of
“gifts” and “lavish hospitality”.

The gifts — cameras and memory sticks — have been found to contain electronic
Trojan bugs which provide the Chinese with remote access to users’ computers.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took his GOP-blasting rhetoric to a new level Monday, comparing Republicans who oppose health care reform to lawmakers who clung to the institution of slavery more than a century ago.

The Nevada Democrat, in a sweeping set of accusations on the Senate floor, also compared health care foes to those who opposed women’s suffrage and the civil rights movement — even though it was Sen. Strom Thurmond, then a Democrat, who unsuccessfully tried to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and it was Republicans who led the charge against slavery.

Sunday’s arrival of a U.S. president admired for his charisma is already a source of profit and brief fame for some Chinese.

The Chinese have learned English from his speeches and celebrated the way he rolls up his sleeves. Now President Obama is finally coming, and he’s being greeted with “Oba Mao” T-shirts and a statue of him that bursts into flames.

“Yes, setting something on fire can have negative connotations, but this piece represents energy and life that Obama has given to the world,” said the 38-year-old, who made a similar piece for former revolutionary leader Mao Zedong.

A film about the Prophet Mohammad backed by the producer of “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Matrix” is under discussion, a Qatar media firm said on Sunday, aiming to create an English-language blockbuster for the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims.

Filming of the $150 million movie is set to start in 2011, with Barrie Osborne as its producer, Alnoor Holdings said.

The US Congressional Research Service reveals that Iran has helped Syria obtain “various forms of weapons of mass destruction” and missiles, as well as buying midget submarines – all from North Korea.

DEBKAfile‘s military sources report that the North Korean miniature subs are capable of dropping small teams of commando forces on enemy shores, damaging large warships and mining the approaches of naval bases and harbors. They are capable of sowing EM-52 “rising mines” originally developed by China, which lurk on deep sea beds until triggered by a passing ship to release a missile which shoots up to strike its hull.

The US CRS notes” Iran purportedly has acted as an intermediary with North Korea to supply Syria with missiles and various forms of WNMD, without specifying whether they are nuclear, chemical or biological.

Four House Republicans on Wednesday accused the nation’s largest Muslim advocacy group of trying to “infiltrate” Capitol Hill by placing interns in the offices of lawmakers who handle national security issues.
The four lawmakers, members of the anti-terror caucus, asked for an investigation into the Council on American Islamic Relations after discovering an internal memo noting the group’s strategy. They also highlighted a new book by Paul Sperry titled “Muslim Mafia,” scheduled for release on Thursday, which claims the group has been actively infiltrating Congress.
Reps. Sue Myrick of North Carolina, Trent Franks of Arizona, Paul Broun of Georgia and John Shadegg of Arizona asked the Internal Revenue Service to determine whether CAIR deserves its nonprofit status. They also are asking their colleagues to review a summary of findings that led the Justice Department to name CAIR as a co-conspirator in a terrorism case.

A cabinet minister is raising fears of a return to 1930’s style fascism.

His comments made in the Guardian newspaper follow clashes last night at an anti-Islamic demonstration at Harrow central mosque. Ten people were arrested.

More demonstrations are planned in London this weekend.
