Their understandings have bound Turkish to pass intelligence data to Tehran on potential Israeli preparations for a strike and on US military movements in the Middle East for providing backup. Our sources report that the details finalized in meetings between the Turkish and Iranian military specialists in Istanbul Monday, Nov. 9, were due to be sealed by presidents Abdullah Gul and Ahmadinejad Tuesday. The Iranian president is to be in Turkey as guest of the Islamic Conference.

South Korea warned it was ready to deter any retaliation by North Korea following the two countries’ first naval clash in seven years, reportedly deploying two warships to the disputed sea border Wednesday.
The skirmish will not deter Washington from sending an envoy to North Korea, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said, vowing to continue efforts to resolve long-standing disputes over Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program.

Somali-based pirates have struck again. Hijacking a Greek-owned cargo ship 400 nautical miles northeast of the Seychelles Islands in the Indian Ocean.
London-based piracy expert Nick Davis, tells Fox News, pirates now have “…no problem extending their reach.” He explains they “leapfrog” from skiff to skiff with a range of some 200 miles for each small boat. When they reach their target ship they just sail that back to Somalia.

A large Saudi armored force crosses into Yemen to fight Iran-backed rebels

Thursday, Nov. 5, a substantial Saudi armored infantry force and tank column crossed the border into Yemen to do battle with Iran-backed Houthi rebels the day after they killed a Saudi border guard. Saudi air force F-15 and Tornado jets have been bombing Yemeni rebel positions near the border with the southern Saudi Jizan province since Wednesday. The Yemeni Houthi rebels are the second Iranian ally to be attacked after Israel’s Cast Lead operation against the Palestinian Hamas in Gaza earlier this year, DEBKAfile’s military sources report.
